Hi All
We would like to move to Scotland later in the year. Just would like to know how the job market's like.
I'm an accountant and my wife an office manager. Visas won't be an issue as she is a German citizen.
I basically want to know if the recruiters are open to assist "foreigners".
What is the expected timeframe in order to find employment

Assuming you're correct about the visa, finding work might be rough.
I believe Scotland has about 6% unemployed, but I don't know the demographics involved.
If it's mainly unskilled people, the more educated or specialists might be okay.

Hopefully someone more qualified will also answer your post as I don't have a lot of experience dealing with recruiters or office type of work . In my opinion be willing to take any job to get your foot in the door as it were. The sooner you both can find employment the sooner you will get on your feet. I would start emailing companies in Edinburgh prospecting for work and be prepared to come to Edinburgh first to start work and look for a flat for your family to arrive after you.

That's really hard to answer Gerry just try to get any work. A lot depends on your age and experience. the younger and more experience you have the better you will do. in the end I went self employed I started a cleaning business and have done well for myself. all depends on you. if you are prepared to work hard you will be ok. I think I said start emailing businesses in Edinburgh and try getting an offer. others have gone down this route successfully.
