New members of the Thailand forum, introduce yourself here – 2nd quarter of 2015

Andy, Thank You for all the information, we are from the San Francisco Bay Area, we were looking for a place to vacation. We already have a condo in Nonthburi LPN Ville on Prachachuen next to Home Pro that we own. We were looking down in Hua Hin, but we are open to other idea's. We don't want to be in a tourist area like Pattaya. We would like to be 2 hours or less away from are condo. Thanks again.  Patrick

Andy, we like swimming, bicycling in a controled area, walking, restaurants, wine bars & tasting, beaches or some kind of water attraction. And away from the noise of the city, loud cars, motorcycles, & trucks. And some place Safe. Thanks Again, Patrick

Andy, Yes am driving, but I don't like it. It is very stressful.  When I can I get someone to drive my car for me I jump at the chance. Do you know of any animal people that would be able to Pet/sit for us  a few days or a week at a time?  Perhaps longer, they would be staying in our Condo. Please reply to our E-Mail [email protected]  Patrick

Currently I m a real estate agent and would like to explore in Phuket. But I have not many friends who can assist me in this area.
Would love to get  more advises n help from here. Cheers guys...

Many people in Phuket are speaking English, you will be fine there.

So you know, dealing with thai government about land is not easy, especially you are foreigner. A lot of under table and extra money that you may have to pay for your own convenience or faster services. Just prepared for many headache situation.

Anyway, i'm not an agent .. this just my point of view .. good luck to you :D

I love San Fran, but never been there. hahaha

When I lived in LA, a couple times that I had a chance to visit, something happen :(

My opinion, Hua Hin is a good choice for you. It's more clean and suitable for vacation than Pattaya. Unless you are a party animal, Pattaya would be fun :D

Other place I would recommend are
1. Koh Sichang, Chonburi

2. Samui

3. Khao Yai

In Thailand, I would not recommend to let one stay in your condo. Honestly, I'm not trust thai government to run a criminal background check, people may use fake references as well. I'm not negative, but if government can't protect us,  we have to protect ourself.

I am canadian lived in Kuwait, singapore and 8 years in Thailand. Will be calling Cameroon home in a few months.
I love Thailand! People💛food💚driving😁 5555 . Looking forward to the next adventure too.

Andy, Thanks for you advice on the pet/sitter. And also the recomdations for some place to visit for vacation or second home, you have been very helpful.  Patrick

You will certainly get by, but if you end up staying for good Thai will be an eye-opening advantage.

Is it important to learn thai or would I get by with English ?

You'll definitely get by, but if you stay for good, learning Thai will be a huge advantage, both practIcally and personally.

Ptinelson, it is very hard to find work in Thailand to support yourself much less a family, if I was you I would go back to the UK and get a job, and send money to your family in Thailand.

hi all,

Hi everone I'm   geera    I  am a Thai/ American who have dual citizenship and I want to live in Thailand but I can't figure out a way to make money the way I do here in America. The average people in thailand only make $300  a month.  I make $500 a week  living here in California.  And everything is so expensive  here in the San Francisco Bay area:-(. Sometimes I feel stuck in America. If  anyone can help me get a job working with tourists by the beach some where in Thailand Please feel free to contact me.

Hi All,

Name is Joel - I work near Pattaya  -for an oil and gas company - It's been my 3+ yrs now in here - Thailand...Went to some nice places -in Udon - Loie with the dinasour park/Chiangmai/Ayuthaya - Ko Chang - Kanchaburi -also to the Cambodia Casino boarder in Poipet.

Hope to find good friends in here..Thanks

Its very hard to find a job in Thailand, you should try to save your money & just come and enjoy yourself. Unless you can get a job though a big company before you come.

Please tell me more!!

Sorry, I wrote this post for someone who is from Chile, I guess. Thanks for your piece of advice.

I am John currently on holiday in Thailand at my wifes home but am looking to move here permanently after i get back to England.I married Cholticha 4 years ago and we spent sometime in England but i have now quit my job with BT and sold my house.I am 60 years old so am not planning to work here.We have a good home and car and are situated on a farm about 50 km from Nakhon Phanom in North East Thailand. My wife has not employment but plenty to do as we grow many things in a large piece of land including rubber trees.Anyone in the region i would be glad to hear from you especially around Sakhon Nakhon.

:) hi my name is wayne i just got marrid to my thai girlfrieand and looking at living in phuket with my wife but need to work i have allways worked in food factory and drive forklift truck. so dont know what work is out there for me but try eney thing to get money if eney one can help let me know thanks

Hey wayne if you already have a house its  better to have your own business. For example  you can start selling bbq in front of your house. You don't need any permit for  that in thailand,  it's better than working for somebody else, hope this will help you out.

Geera.

Hey, whitedragon I can help you improve your thai  but live in california, Let me know if you want me  to help you speak basic thai. I'm available every weekend.

Geera.
