Employment

I am currently working as an Accountant with Royal Dutch Shell.  In the ideal world I would secure a similar role in Samui but am realistic enough to recognise that flexibility will be a must.  Any advice on what visa will be required and how to obtain it from within the UK would also be appreciated.

Do employers on Samui review this site for potential job applicants?

First you have to do lot of searches in job specialized website in Thailand, it is not easy for foreigner to get job here and never limit your choice to one area, but look at the whole country. Many foreigners here are teachers.

Some websites for your informations, you can put a CV online to increase your chance, but you need to be here for interview or quick reactivity.

If you dont know about working in Thailand requirement for foreigners, look about Visa, work permit, constraint for employers who want to recruit foreigners as there are clear quotas and they must justified the reason why they need a foreigner and not a local...

Many foreigners look for companies in Thailand but companies are not looking for them..... There are a long list of prohibited job for foreigners also you can find in this website

A work permit requires a job offer. The company arranges this and usually there are quotas. However, you can apply for a permit as an individual to live in Thailand, as long as you work outside the country, i.e. salaried in another currency outside the country. There is a thread pinned at the top of the Thailand Forum all about immigration matters.
