Here are my top tips:

Scotland enjoys a slower pace of life and work than in America, so be patient when things don't happen as quickly as you are used to.

Dress for the weather. This probably means a new wardrobe of waterproof, woolly and insulated outwear. Yes, it rains a lot and yes, it's cold much of the year. But if you just dress for it and go about your business, it's not that bad. And remember that in the summer it can be paradise.

Get outdoors! Scotland has some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world and thousands of opportunities for watersports, hiking, skiing, cycling, climbing, hang gliding and whatever else your outdoor loving heart desires.
