Top 5 tips to live in Peru

When you are going to live abroad, you may have a lot of questions. Hence to facilitate you in this process, we are inviting expats to share their top 5 tips with regards to settling and living in Peru.

What recommendations would you give soon-to-be expats in Peru?

How should they prepare efficiently for their expatriation project and settling in?

Please share with us your best advice for a successful expatriation in Peru!

Sell everything in your original country.
Don't own a car.
Don't buy a house.
Work online.
Don't hang out with other extranjeros.

gonna be more than 5 ------->

1. Wrap up any loose ends where you live now.
2. Plan what you will take with you and sell the rest.
3. Find a 'sea cargo' firm to move your stuff.
4. Bring all important documents. Originals !
5. Renew your passport from where you are now.
6. Renew your Drivers License before you leave.
7. Set up a mail forwarding account service from home country.
8. Obtain an International Drivers License from AA before you leave.
9. Set up a bank account where you are now that will be able to let you use Debit services or ATM services here.
{ You can not carry more than $10,000 cash when you travel on Airlines }
10. Decide where in Peru you want to live.
11. If you can find a Peruvian friend to help you find your first apartment and rent it so that the day you arrive you have a door and a place to begin your adventure.
12. Soon after arrival learn about and obtain Carnet de Extranjeria.
13. Prior to departure have all of your vaccines updated.
14. Bring medical and dental records and your last eyeglass Rx.
15. Arrange auto deposit for any incomes in home country.
There are no TUMS here so would be good to bring a bottle or two.

Anticipate what you want to but know that is it going to be different when you get here.

ps.... be aware that all / ALL computers here available for retail are Single Language - another language Can NOT be selected / so best to bring your own or a new computer.
..... all mice for sale have only 2 buttons,, so bring your own.
and.... get a magic jack / a magic jack plugged in to your computer will allow you to make free calls to the US and anyone who want to call you calls a US #

Don't bother to bring anything electrical unless it can use 220v
