Join groups according to your interests - a very good way to meet local people, which helps you integrate. Check out local newspapers, council, Information centres, community centres, Neighbourhoodv Learning House if they have that in your area.

On housing, buying a car and sending your children to school; consider a number of options, do not take decisions too fast;
With cars, do a lot of investigation on line, specials often pop up;
Talk to people about what you want to do to obtain information but carefully consider advice and weigh it up with alternative opinions;
Watch supermarket specials, one can save a lot of money by focusing on the lower priced items.
Watch out for the details on Electricity and Gas contracts, lower priced offers are sometimes not lower when the real deal is made.
