Pregnancy in HCMC: looking for a good OBGYN and hospital

Good day to all!

This is my very first pregnancy and I want to ask for your help for any good OBGYN and hospital for prenatal, childbirth and post natal check-ups. How much would the estimated cost of delivery the hospital you are referring to will be?
How was your experience?

Thank you so much for your help.

Yesterday I did the 4d and fetal echocardiogram at Phu San Quoc Te, a hospital that specialized in maternity. I was thinking of writing a recommendation for the doctor specifically because she's so great.

We seen at least 5 different doctors and I told my wife pick the one you're most comfortable with. She's #19 at the reception desk where they list all the doctors, Cam Nhung. She's got her own office on the 2nd level and lots of accolades hanging on the wall.  Ironically we later found out she was also the doctor for my nephew 15 years ago when the hospital just opened.

There prices are all listed on the website. A checkup is $120,000 dong and request by doctor is $200,000 dong.

I'd say it's expensive compared to local hospitals but you save on the convenience like not having to go fetch your own food, or bring blankets and clothing or toilet paper. All are provided. Security is top notch. My wife forget her handbag when we left the lunch room. When we got to the bottom of the elevator the security guy got a hold of my wife.

Quality of doctor I'm told most come from Tu Du hospital since they are near each other. Nothing bad I've heard of from this hospital and all the staff seem more than happy to go out of their way to make you comfortable.

Hi! I am an expat and had my baby on the 4th of February. I did all my prenatal checkups at FV Hospital, in district 7. I had a prenatal package that cost 16mil, about $800 and includes 8 consultations, 3 4D ultrasounds, blood tests, screening tests and urine tests. My doctor was Dr. Hieu and she was great, but there are other doctors too, including a French one. Checkups and ultrasounds went fine, I was happy with my package although processing waiting time can sometimes be 1-2 hours. I chose FV over other more acclaimed maternity hospitals because they have other specialists and good equipment for most specialities and in the event of something going wrong I didn't want to have to be transferred. My baby decided to be 6 weeks early so he needed to stay in the NICU for 16 days. My delivery by C section was uneventful, and nurses on the maternity wars are great. The NICU took round the clock care of my son and I was very happy with them. Delivery by C section package is about $1800 for me because it was the second one. If you have a normal delivery or first c section is cheaper. Price includes everything and 4 nights stay. You can email me if you're interested in more details.

Anyone knows if Dr Rober Riche is still in town? Was just told that he is not with Hanh Phuc anymore ((( If not, please recommend good OB (for check ups, no pregnancy), and good pediatrician? As our pediatrician from hang Phuc does not work for them anymore…I wonder what is going on there if they lose their best!?

My wife switched from International hospital to Hung Vuong after I left Vietnam. The 20 million dong was too much for her. It's about 5 million dong at Hung Vuong.

Well she's 7 month pregnant had her first checkup at Hung Vuong and now has been in the hospital for last 4 days. So much for saving money like I told her. Vietnamese hospital have creative ways to suck their patients money and without envelope money you are forced to wait all day.

Oh the reason they said was baby was too small and she needs to eat beef. All the restaurants around Hung Vuong sell pork no beef. Seriously that's their diagnosis.

And the beef is being brought in from Bien Hoa.

Sorry but that sounds crazy :)))

my wife stayed fv too
we took the vip room which is only 1 and only
total bill was 40m vnd

really cheap.

There isn't necessarily anything wrong with Hanh Phuc, it's just that a lot of new private hospitals and clinics are being open and the new ones offer higher salaries to get good staff and reputation at the beginning. I find that expat doctors tend to disappear rather quickly too...if you want a good pediatrician, Dr Jonathan from Family Medical Practice. OB, i really liked Dr Hieu from FV.

Hope all is well with you. My son was born in Saigon International Hospital by caesarian and it was great. My friend had a private room with 2 beds and the nanny stayed in the bed across from her......when I was not there. It was quite cheap and the care was very good. There are several clinics well known for check ups and I believe many were mentioned here. BTW, last night I had a medical emergency with my 19 year old daughter who is with me on vacation in HCMC and we went to Columbia Asia Gia Dinh International Hospital.....it was amazing. They also have Women's health focus and gynaecology.

Good luck with everything....cheers.
