I'm looking at visiting and possibly relocating to Canoa. Any info would be much appreciated.

Hi;
I recommend you read my past posts. I have been living in Canoa for 3 years now and have answered many questions for others. If my posts do not answer any specific questions you have just ask.

Here is some information to supplement Leonard's on-site experience.
Canoa is a pleasant, laid-back fishing village on the Pacific Coast, with good surfing.
Certain traveler amenities are lacking. Few businesses accept credit cards; the Hotel Bambu is an exception. There is no ATM in town.
Leonard's hangout, the Surf Shak, is highly rated. It is a great North American-style restaurant serving up burgers, pizza and spaghetti. Expect reasonable prices.
Taking all-night buses in Ecuador is not recommended, so you may wish to find an alternative to that 10:45 p.m. departure from Quito that arrives in Canoa before sunrise.
Consider, instead, flying into Guayaquil and taking a short taxi ride from the airport (or your hotel) to bus terminal Terrestre. GYE is just 90 minutes from the Pacific beaches so there are numerous bus lines with a variety of departure times to Canoa and the coast that don't involve all-night travel.

Sorry for the delayed response. I (over) enjoyed an Ecuadorian family birthday celebration last night, and just recently opened the computer.
I know 3 GPs in San Vincente and Bahia De Caraquez I could recommend, as well as cardiac specialists I saw in Manta and San jaciento. Beyond that my knowledge is internet and hearsay. the lookup link I found is;

I did know a man that was seeing a mental health doctor in Manta. but that was 2 years ago. unfortunately I don't know the doctors name or any of his information. His patient has since moved to Cuba and has dropped off the grid. No one has had any contact in over a year.
I will ask around for you and report any new info.
Leonard
Thanks Leonard!
is Canoa a good choice for seniors to spend winters? Looking for quiet by the ocean, clean and safe with a nice community not too far. Is this a good place for my wife and I. I hear Bahia is a relatively dirty beach which is OK to walk along but do not swim in it. Appreciate your comments........Robert
