Moving to Panama

Hi everyone,

I am a single woman who would like to move to Panama.  Can anyone tell me if I can get reasonably priced health insurance as I'm 65?  I had a hard time getting a satisfying answer to this question.  I live in SF Bay Area.  Does anyone reading this form live nearby?  I would love to meet some people who also want to retire there.

Just above and to the right of the Forum Topics, there is a box called "Forum Categories."  There is a list, in blue type, that includes "Health System".  Click on the topic, some of your questions might be answered there.

Google www.bestplacesintheworldtoretire.com plus "What is the cost for health insurance in Panama and how does it work:?"  There are many good answers from expats on buying health insurance in Panama.  Age is a big factor in cost of Private Health Insurance but if you obtain residency you can use public medical care.

Thanks

You could start by getting a few quotes from international insurance providers. I recently shopped for insurance and here are the ones I got in touch with. They all have an online quote tool which gives an idea of what the monthly insurance premium comes up to.

When getting the quote make sure to add outpatient treatment, which is usually non included (the base insurance only covers inpatient treatment, i.e. all the situations involving hospitalization). Also, you might want to check in regards to how / if illness related to pre-existing conditions is covered. Most insurances have clauses related to pre-existing conditions.

Hope this helps.
