IT senior role with a Saudi bank -need suggestion on potential saving

hi Folks,
I am an Australian citizen and I am soon coming to join an expat role as an IT specialist with one of Saudi banks based in Riyadh. Got an initial 2 yrs contract, it will be my very first time in Middle east. I worked in IT for 15 years in APAC region incl Australia. My offer includes approx. $10,00 USD /month or 38,000 SAR/Month which includes basic salary, housing allowance & transportation. In addition, I've got Medical insurance, bonus (variable) and 4 tickets.. and also some one time coverage on visa processing fees, etc.

The contract shows a family status but kids education not included (I've got 2 kids but anyway I am coming alone).

What is the saving potential if I am going alone? Please suggest how good or bad or reasonable this package is.

Thanks,
Sam

Welcome to the forum.

Hi There,

It is a pretty neat package that you have managed to grab. The only variable factor is the type of housing you choose to live in. A decent apartment, in a nice and safe locality can cost about SAR50,000 upwards annually. All other expenses such as food, fuel, telephone etc will be covered in another SAR4,000.

Going by the calculation you may end up saving up to SAR28,000 or more, staying alone.

Hope it helps!

Thanks Raunak, yes it does help.
I also had a similar line of thought .. saving up to 28k will be good enough.

Cheers.
