Heritage Malta museums & sites open for free this coming Sunday

Heritage Malta will be opening nearly all its museums and sites for free this coming Sunday, the 1st of February, on occasion of the Public Service Week.

There will also be free tours available at The National Museum of Natural History in Malta and a special presentation is to be given at the National Museum of Fine Arts.

In Gozo the museums open will be the Museum of Archaeology, the Folklore Museum, the Gozo Nature Museum, the Old Prison (Citadel, Victoria), Ta' Kola Windmill and Ggantija Temples (Xaghra).

The exception for this offer by Heritage Malta will be the Hal Saflieni Hypogeum, Ta' Hagrat and Skorba Temples in Malta, due to restrictions and sensitivity of the sites.

The sites which will be open in Malta are St Paul's Catacombs, the Domvs Romana (Rabat), the National Museum of Natural History (Mdina), the National Museum of Fine Arts, the National Museum of Archaeology, the National War Museum, the Palace Armoury and State Rooms (Valletta), the Malta Maritime Museum and Inquisitor's Palace (Vittoriosa), Ghar Dalam Cave (Birzebbuga), Hagar Qim and Mnajdra Temples (Qrendi) and Tarxien Temples.

The National Museum of Natural History in Malta will be open for free all day. Special tours of the Reserve Collection will be offered at 10.30am in Maltese, 12.30pm in English and 2.30pm in Maltese.

The Senior Curator of the National Museum of Fine Arts is giving a special presentation on MUZA, the new National Museum of Art and Heritage Malta's flagship project for Valletta's capital city of culture title in 2018.

The presentation begins at 10.30pm. No booking required. The presentation is followed immediately with a tour of the current National Museum of Fine Arts. Another tour will be offered at 12.30.
