Hi,
I am an Indian citizen here in Belgium on a work permit and going to visit India in summer this year for a month. Just as a precaution, I would like to know that if I happen to lose my residence card while there what should I do?
I know I'll need a visa to return but will it be a C-visa (Schengen) or a D-visa? Other than that what other documents would I need if the circumstances do require me to apply for a visa to return?

If you lose the card in India, contact the Belgian consulate with your Belgian national ID number and a copy of your card (it is a good idea to keep a scanned copy or xerox) 
They must be able to suggest further.
