Hi pvelayudam,

Whether or not the salary quoted would be sufficient for a family of 4 would depend on what the inclusions and exclusions are in the package offered.

If it's an all-inclusive package it would be rather tight. Also, the place of stay and place of work would matter in deciding if the deal is good or not.

Note that if accommodation and transportation are provided then it would be generally manageable.

If I stayed my self alone  then what would be my saving potential. My package is inclusive of HRA  and Food. And exclusive of transporation . My work   location is Ruwi

Hi pvelayudam,

You could look at a 1BHK / sharing accommodation depending on your choice. Furnishing and equipping the house / room would be a one-time cost. Once the initial settling down expenses have all been met, you should be able to save about 60% upwards of your monthly income.

what is cost of living in ghala as bachelor like accommodation and food and miscellaneous expenses .

please suggest

Say roughly about R.O. 150/- to R.O. 200/- per month.

Hey Guys,

I was considering moving to Muscat and wanted few information regarding the same. The job offer includes a salary of US$1500 per month excluding housing or transportation costs. Wanted to check whether it will be enough for a couple, also wanted to make sure once initial one time set up costs are borne, what would be the potential monthly saving?

Please confirm if the salary is in  Dollars or in Omani Rials. As far as I know, no Omani company offers a salary in USD unless its an outsourced multinational firm.

Well its not the official salary offered. A ballpark estimate of gross salary range in US$. :|

I have no idea about your background ...
however USD 1500 would translate to a little less than OMR 600.

make sure you do not fall below the benchmark of OMR 600 , which is required for family visa .
With around 600 , you shall have a reasonable living , but there would not be a lot to save .

Suggest , go through the details mentioned in 'cost of living" .
Many members have precisely mentioned the cost of individual items which could help you assess your situation based on your lifestyle.

Best Wishes

USD 1500, probably would not allow you to apply the residence visa of your partner as I feel it would be converted to less than OMR 600. This somehow is survivable for a bachelor but would be a bit tough for a couple, yet manageable.

Indeed, i thought so but wanted some opinions. Thanks for your support guys. :)
