How much does it cost to live in Kenya? In Nairobi

Prices are in Kenyan shillings

> accommodation prices - 60,000 - 75,000 for 3BR Flat per month

> public transportation fares (tube, bus etc.) No idea

> food prices (your monthly budget) 30,000 for a family

> health prices (for those who need medical insurance) 50,000 per year

> education prices (if you need to pay) 350,000 per year per child

> energy prices (oil, electricity) 10,000 per month

> common bills (Internet, television, telephone, mobile phone) 10,000 per month

> price for a good menu in a traditional restaurant 750-1000 per person

> price for a coffee or a drink 250 for a bottle of beer

> price for cinema tickets 500

> education prices (if you need to pay) - I pay 20,000ksh a term (3 terms a year but that is in the Kenyan system), friends pay 150,000 approx per term for international.

> common bills (Internet, television, telephone, mobile phone) Internet KES 1000/month, phone KES 1000/month and Zuku Satellite is I think about KES 3000/month

Car: >>  1500cc station wagon 780k (7 yr old-new imported), mileage avg 10km/lt in city
Driver: >>  from 18k per month upwards (depending on load)

How much does it cost to live in Kenya?

> accommodation prices = 55,000 per month (unfurnished 4bedroom house with SQ and security)

> public transportation fares (tube, bus etc.) - Bus = Ksh70 from town to home, one-way (prices rise during rush hour)
                                                                      - Taxi  = Ksh500 (for the same distance as above)

> food prices (your monthly budget) = Ksh15,000 per month (for 3 people and the occasional dinner party)

> health prices (for those who need medical insurance)

> education prices (if you need to pay)

> energy prices (oil, electricity) = Roughly Ksh10,000 per month for fuel

> common bills
                       - Zuku internet + TV + landline package = Ksh4,300 per month
                       - Electricity = Ksh2000 per month (with shower heater)
                       - Water = Ksh1000 per month
                       - Gas canister for cooking = Ksh2800 every 3 months or so (incl. delivery & installation)
                       - Safaricom mobile = Ksh3000 per month (calling locally and abroad and internet bundles)                   

> price for a good menu in a traditional restaurant = Ksh600 - Ksh2000 per person depending on the restaurant

> price for a coffee or a drink
                                             - Coca cola = Ksh70
                                             - Coffee = Ksh250

> price for cinema tickets = Ksh500 (+ Ksh300 for popcorn)
