Cost of living in Bolivia – 2015

How much does it cost to live in Bolivia?

The costs of living is in Cochabamba, Bolivia.

Accommodation prices:
100 USD per month for a room with a family. Renting your own apartment 300 USD and up. Hostel can be gotten for 10 USD per day in shared room.

Public transportation fares (tube, bus etc.)
1.90 bs (0.7 USD) one way, in shared taxi (trufi), or bus.

Food prices (your monthly budget)
You can get a great meal for 10-16 bs. We are two and use around 1000 bs (144 USD) per month for food, and then we eat very well and not the cheapest places.

Health prices (for those who need medical insurance)
Medical Insurance is very expensive here, if you do not work and get the health insurance trough your job. I am not sure how much it is, but everyone say it is very expensive.

Education prices (if you need to pay)
The public university is for free. The private once range from 100 USD to 1000 per month.

Energy prices (oil, electricity)
Gas is very cheap, for a whole month you will pay 8 bs for all use in an apartment. The electricity for an appartment would be around 30-70 bs.

Common bills (Internet, television, telephone, mobile phone)
350 bs per month. This do not include the mobile phone, and here you can make it with 50 bs more.

Price for a good menu in a traditional restaurant
30 bs for a place

Price for a coffee or a drink
5 bs

Price for cinema tickets
35 - 40 bs. But on Wednesday there are two for one.
