Bring Indian Wife on Visitor VISA

Hello,

I am getting married in May 2015 and my fiance is Indian. I have been in Belgium since 2012 on work permit. I plan to bring my wife on visitor visa after marriage. I guess the period of stay would be 3 months only. Then she would have to go back and apply for a family reunification visa (for long stay). My question is does bringing her to Belgium for 3 on visitor visa would potentially create any problems in applying for long stay visa later (like after she goes back to India ?) is there a clause that will prevent her from applying for long stay- just because she was in Belgium on visitor visa earlier -- there have been some rumors that technically she will not be able to apply for the next 6 months or so after she returns to India !  I could not find such things, but being a novice I would like to take some expert opinions in this matter

Hi,

I would not like to mislead you , not sure if there is something specific to Belgium. But technically it would be possible to apply for both short term and Long term visa at the same time. When she would return back after staying for three months her long term visa would be close to approval.

Hi Tubeloid,

As far as I know there is no rule which states that she cannot apply for a long term visa after returning to India from a short term visit to belgium.

Also, it is not possible to apply for long term and short term visa at the same time for Belgium. Only one application is allowed when applying for the visa.

It is better to apply at least 4-5 months before the planned date of travel.

Cheers.

Thanks for the response !!
