I have read about a group of Americans gather every month to socialize and sometimes quilt (American Women of Amman), is this the right group? How can I get in touch with them?

Maybe its useful for you.
I have some friends who are into quilting and I am keen to learn as well...But they are not members of the following gatherings, we have our weekly gathering with brunch and crafting (although its more eating then crafting 
)
We come together on Wednesdays and everyone host a gathering.

There are many opportunities for you to meet American women in Amman.
1. IWAA.... International Women's Association of Amman. They meet the first Thursday of every month.
2. AWA.... American Women of Amman. They meet the 3rd Monday of every month.
3. There are ladies who meet for coffee morning every Monday. If you will PM me I will give details.
You will never be without friends in Amman.
