Cash limit for foreigner entering and leaving Sri Lanka

Hello everyone. I am emily from China. I have some queries about the cash limit for a foreigner entering and leaving Sri Lanka. To be specific, how much can I, as a foreign traveler, bring when I go to Sri Lanka and how much can I take when leaving Sri Lanka? Do I need to declare to the Sri Lanka Customs the money I take with me when I arrive in and leave the country?
I'd appreciate it if you guys can help.

You can bring up to USD10,000 in cash.
I believe that if you save the foreign exchange receipt, you can change back a similar amount.
If you need to bring in more, then you should open a Special Investment Account at a bank in Sri Lanka and transfer the money by TT.  You can also send money out from this account when you leave.
You should be able to find this topic on the gov.lk site.

it depend how meny days you going to stay in srilanka. I think as a Tour operator 2000$ enough for your vacation.

hi, I would advise you to declare the money (over US$ 5000/-). Like this you are on the safe side. You can take less money out of the country that what you brought in. Best regards Claire, Kandy
