Moving Jan. 2011 from Canada, shall I bring my TVs, electronics etc?

Hello

I would appreciate if anyone knows whether I should bother to ship my tv's, electronics, lamps, etc. from Canada to Antigua as I understand the voltage is different & shipping from Canada is very expensive.  I was wondering if there are converters available on the island that would allow me to use the TVs etc. or if I should try and sell it all in Canada and buy new there.

Also wondering if I should ship my car or if one can purchase a car down there for a reasonable price?

Any advice or opinion would be appreciated!

Cheers!

The voltage on Antigua can either be 110volts or 230volts depending where you live. The mains frequency is 60hz and that is the same for both the 110 or 240 supplies.
The TV standard for Antigua is NTSC, the same as the US.

Anything on Antigua is expensive, and I am talking 2 - 3 times the price you would pay in the UK.

If you are coming here to live then personal possesions can be brought in exempt of import tax, however you would need to check if that also applies to your car.
