Garden centers in Cuenca

Perhaps most practical would be finding local nurseries once you find a nice area... There are nurseries around... They are often small and may not have internet presence. I heard Giron outside of Cuenca may be a nice place to consider..i too am considering the same... But wish there were N American Neighbors around... It is probably best to have a goood ecuadorian facilitator to inquire about the price and negotiate... In fact if the property is a number of hectares.. Perhaps several people could come together to purchase .. A hectare is a lot of land!

Just looked up Giron. About 40 minutes from Cuenca. Such a cute looking town ! Are fruit trees readily available and have you found the land around Cuenca to be pretty fertile ? My Sister in Law is a Doctor in Latacunga and apparently the land is fabulous for growing there but it's chilly and no expat community....

I only drove through the town.. I do not really know the details.. We were driven around by one of the " facilitators" .. A local who charges $10 an hour and will take you around... I think though one has to be careful investing here until you lived for a while...elevation is still farely high in Cuenca... Not as bad as in Quito.. But still farely high... It does affect the body.., know real prices.. See the availble infrustructure...etc.. People who were with me will be looking for a piece of land there..

Getting together with like minded people sounds like the way to go. I am thinking of going to Ecuador soon, before the end of Jan 2015,  What are the chances of getting together with others and talking?
