Just got a job offer in Germany (Mannheim). Anybody have any tips on the cost of living, relocation, apartments....etc?

I'm moving over to Frankfurt in a few months time and wondered if anyone knows of any graphic design studios I could get in contact with regarding freelance? Or if anyone knows of any jobs going.. I am currently working as a middleweight designer in the UK and have 4 years studio experience...
any advice or pointers would be great!
