Car insurance in Mauritius

Hi all,

I hope you're well today.

I've scoured the web in an attempt to find this, but I haven't had any luck. I hope someone on here can help me out.

Is it customary in Mauritius to insure the driver or the vehicle? In Britain, both the vehicle and the driver are insured, which means you have to pay for any additional named drivers if you want to have multiple users of the same car. Does the same system exist in Mauritius, or can anyone drive your car once you (as the main driver) have had it insured in your name?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Best

Bennett

Hi Bennett!  In mauritius everyone can drive your car once you got insured by an insurance company  :)

Excellent! I'll have to work out who will get the keys!

Not sure about this answer as when our daughter was visiting for 2 weeks, we rang the Insurance Company and they said we had to add her name to the policy, no charge and we had to give the exact dates she would be in Mauritius, she was then added for the exact dates of her holiday.

I would always check with the Insurance Company and get it in writing. :)
