Contemplating moving to Al Hasa

I'm a single female with no children. I am keen to experience another culture but Im also aware I may be a little naive in thinking my stay in Al Hasa will be an easy one.  Im thinking about taking up an English teaching position there but I dont want to regret moving there after the fact. I notice there are a few posts by women who have families. Will I be a black sheep if I dont have kids or a husband? I want to be able to socialise with others but if I dont fit into any of these boxes, Im afraid it will be a very lonely experience. Also, is there access to decent food in Al Hasa? Shopping for vegetables, imported products, etc. Any advice would be appreciated.

Dear everything is there in al hasa... big super markets have everything there... like Panda , Carrefour, tamimi etc. etc.

for socializing you will get a good circle once you are here and try to find with help of colleagues, net etc. etc... secondly if you can arrange you housing in any compound it would be very easy for you adjust.

secondly Dammam is only 150 Km from al hasa so you can come up here if you would have friends in Dammam.

Regards

To be honest with you I am in no favor of taking up jobs in these far off cities. Healthcare for being one of the reasons.

It is not easy i can you tell you this but you won't be a black sheep. It might take time to get adjusted to the life here and socializing. Most expatriates will live in compound and have activities there. You just need to get to know a few people. I think it is best to start with co workers.

You can bring your Kindle and read.  :)

:D  I would surely laugh off - of what Alliecat used to say about (some kinds of) single (women) here! ;)
BUT...we could say that Auckland and Saudi Arabia are far two different places than the other...and things just might be a little hard, especially if you're outgoing, or used to having big group of friends with you...because no matter how much friends you make here, you'll still feel the HUGE differences.
