My husband and I are considering moving to Ecuador. The system we're interested in is IESS. I understand that sometime in 2014 they are supposed to change the requirements so you can sign up over age 65 and can have pre-existing conditions. Does anyone have information about this?

Yes you are right. I now have it. You can sign up on line. The husband signs up first and pays $70 a month in arrears at one of 3 banks on the 15th of each month. He can get service after 3 months. He can add the wife for about $12 an month after.
