Dreaming of making the move to malta

Hi Stacey,

welcome to the forum.

You will find answers to most of your questions in the appropriate sections and previous posts.

If your husband is an IT specialist and has experience in databasing and programming web sites and similar it should be easy for him to find work in Malta.

If he is more into administration he could well find it very difficult. Many public administration jobs here require Maltese language skills or are even 'political' appointments. As you say 'ASAP a job you really have to look into the different options and expect it to take a while to find a decent paying job.

Why do you want to make the move? Are you just fed up with the weather and are looking for sun?

I'm from Doncaster too! I've been here 6 weeks now and i'm loving it!

I'm in St Pauls Bay, so feel free to get in touch when you're over here and we could meet up for coffee maybe.

Can't really advise on schools etc as my 'kids' are way past that age now.

Anyway, I wish you luck in your plans for the big move and hope to meet you sometime.

Ricky my husband is aware he may not be able to find work in his current sector and is happy to put his hand to anything as long as it pays.
Are there certain areas that would have more job possibilities? We are just looking to earn enough to live on. Our expenses would be far far less than they are now, we just want a better lifestyle for ourself's and the kids.


Kerry you are also from Doncaster wow what a small world.
It would be great to grab a coffee when we are over at Easter.
So your enjoying the change? Have your children gone over with you? Are you working? Is the St. Paul's area nice?
We haven't yet booked an hotel for are short stay but thinking of St. Paul's so we can get a feel for it.

Hi Stacey,

I came over here on my own, as I too wanted a better way of life, and I think Malta is a lot more relaxed than the UK. My husband is still in Doncaster, but is coming over in June.
I have four sons who are all grown up with their their own families now. The eldest lives in New Zealand and the other three are all back in the UK, but no doubt they'll be coming over for the 'freebie' holidays!

I do have a job here and the pay is not great but it's enough to live on, I don't have an expensive lifestyle, just a nicer way of life than the 'rat race' in the UK.

I chose to live in St Paul's Bay as it was the area I knew best. I like it here, there's everything you need virtually on your doorstep and it's good for buses to anywhere on the island. I stayed at the Bugibba Hotel (very basic but cheap!) for the first two weeks while I found an apartment (which I did within four days).

Overall, I would say that if it's what you truly want to do, go for it! But remember to do your homework first!

Hey, we are also flying over in Easter and hoping to move over before June. We are also going to look at the st Paul's area and sliema for the schools. How old are your children? My son is 7 in June.
I will let you know how we get on :-)
