Are cabs in Salalah relatively inexpensive or would it be smarter to rent a car monthly to get to and from work?

To be independent and on your own would anyday be a better and safer option than to depend on taxis / public transport. More so in the absence of any organised taxi / public transport systems in the Sultanate of Oman.
