Having a car in Gib

Hello guys,

Would you please give me an idea of expensive it is to have/keep a car in Gib. If I leave let's say in a good place like OV or similar does the flat include a park place as well. How about car taxes in Gib - if I take my car with me I have to pay the taxes for the car locally in Gib, so how much that is and how complicated it is to find park place on a daily basis?

Regards,

Hi

There are no annual car taxes in Gibraltar.

If you import a second-hand car it will require a roadworthy test at importation and every two years thereafter.

Import tax varies up to 30% subject to a Customs Officers valuation, however they are usually on the low side.

A lot of flats come with parking spaces, otherwise it's pretty difficult or expensive to park

Car insurance in Gibraltar will also include an annual Green Card for Europe .

Hello Grumpy,

Thanks very much...

Grumpy, one more question to you... What kind of documents do you think might come handy if I translate them on English in advance. I see the birth certificate of my daughter is one of them. Anything else that you find handy?

Cheers,

Hi rvr

Sorry I do not know the answer to that question

Thank you!

Commercial vehicles require an annual MOT.

Private vehicle is £20, commercial is £40 annually.

We did importation but I thought it was 35%, I'd need to check that though.

You can juggle around the car parking spaces if you don't have an allocated one in a block.

Thank you, I think I will move with no car there... :)

Cheers,
