Getting suits made in PP

Hey all,

I'm looking for a decent place to get a few pairs of black suit pants and a handful of waistcoats made...Any recommendations? They need to be able to make them from measurements as they are for my wedding party and none of them live here!

Hi Toddbazley,

I know a place for you to go check on for suit...

Try Tom and Alice tailor shop, they specialise in making suit.... Its located behind luvky sihanouk...

They speak a little english and most of my friends have been there...

Hi there, can you please give more details on the address of that tailor shop? :-) I really need a professional and understanding tailor. Unfortunately, locals are a bit dumb (I try to pick up decent words)) in terms of professionalism...

Thank you very much!

Regards,
Igor

That is an extremely ignorant comment Igor! Too many foreigners (expats and tourists) come to Cambodia and insult the locals like you have, purely because of language barriers.

However, if you are not a native English speaker and can't find the correct words to explain what you mean, then I may forgive for that comment.

You know, when you ask for ONE back pocket on your trousers (and even pronounce it in Khmer - muoy), but finally he makes two pockets, how can you name it? :-) when they make a wavy stitch on the trousers, even if it is several centimeters long...
Another example from other tailor shop: When you make a suit and the stitch doesn't go vertical, but skewed and you hear nothing but "sorry", do you think it is professional enough?

So, my bottom line is that I'm not the one who is happy with the quality. Maybe, I just got used to another way of making clothes. And that's why I got interested in the address of that shop on Sihanouk Blvd.
Sorry if you got offended.

Hey,

They are locals but just try. Its acctually the street behind ABA bank sihanouk...

Tom and Alice tailor
St. 278...
Its behind lucky sihanouk , not sure about the house number though...

The street is in between monivong and st. 63. Coming from monivong, left side.

Hope you can find it...

Goodluck...

Ok, so you are saying that the quality and professionalism of the tailors that you used were not up to the required standard.

Saying "locals are dumb" is a generalisation of the entire population and is just plain ignorant. I understand what you mean now, but it would be wise to choose your words more carefully in the future so that people don't call you dumb.

Dear Rarky,
If you read my comment carefully, you will see that I said "...dumb in terms of professionalism". I didn't call the population dumb though. So, probably there was some misunderstanding.

Thanks a lot for the address landmarks. You were very accurate and detailed, so I got you perfectly and know where it is. Will visit them soon.

Thanks again.
Cheers!

Igor, I understand now thanks to your explanation, all a misunderstanding due to your grasp of the English language. All the best mate.

Your welcome...

Hope you will finally get what you wanted....

:)

BTW Rarky,
Where do you go when you need to make a suit or trousers? Can you share the address?

Oh, is it the same with the tailor that was recommended earlier? The email address and website tell me that it is still Tom and Alice, right?

Yes, same as recommended earlier. A little more pricier than the average Khmer tailor shop, but you shouldn't encounter all the same problems that you mentioned you have experienced in the past.

If you are ever planning on making any trips into Thailand, then I suggest using Indian tailors over there, excellent quality and cheaper than here.

OK, got it, thank you for the details. It is easier for me to visit their shop near ABA Bank. Hope quality doesn't depend on the location :)

what are the prices for a suit here vs a different tailor?

Hello ericefl,
I made one for $180-200 at Cadet tailor (BKK 3 area, near Mao Tse Toung blvd.).

The main challenge was to explain what I needed, because no one spoke English there, except a young girl who wasn't in the shop all the time. The quality of the suit is also not that perfect, but I had no other way because the case was too urgent.

Wouldn't recommend you that tailor shop.
