Bank Account in HCMC

Hi,

I'd like to open a bank account. Can someone please advise me which bank has the most number of branches or ATMs?  Also the one that offers a VISA or MasterCard debit card with is linked to the account?

Also, any special requirements for foreigners to open an account?

Thanks in advance.

Regards
Mike

I would suggest that you should open a Bank account in foreign bank such as Standard Character Bank, Hong Kong Bank. Because most staff of local bank cannot speak English well and the bank do not support internet banking in English.

When I opened a bank account in Standard Character Bank, it requested
1. Passport
2. Temporary residence card

The bank also offered a debit card to me.

If you want to remit money to your bank account in your home country, you have to provide an Income Certificate to the bank.

I would highly reccomend read a few of the older thread in regards to opening accounts.
U might find it useful

I opened a bank account recently, just required my passport and a passport photo. The bank I went to did not speak English or have bilingual forms, but I hear HD Bank has them.

Actually I did try looking for a the 'Bank' category but didn't find it at first!...I must have been blind when I posted!

Just found the 'Bank and Finance' topic category!

Thanks to those who replied.

Regards
Mike

The banks with the most number of branches and/or ATMS are state-owned banks.  That would be...

vietinbank
vietcombank
bidv
agribank

You should open the Visa debit card in Vietcombank, ACB or Sacombank.

Just to let you know though, ACB is in the midst of a scandal involving their Chairman and other high ranking officials.

Also Vietin Bank is embroiled in a scandal involving some high ranking officers in management stealing 191 million USD.

oh oh...i forgot it...hihihi.
I recommend it because today i took 2 customers to withdraw the money in ACB bank from their Visa and Master Card. Its very simple and they can withdraw a lot of money one time with the rate charge 3%. I asked the employee there about the way to open the account for foreigner and its simple too.
One more thing is the rate for ATM machine only 1.5% for the visa and master card.
