Hello jhaneth,

The official government site for Citizenship and Immigration Canada warns everyone to be extremely careful about using immigration consultants, lawyers and other agents in order to find jobs and immigrate to Canada. They generally charge a great deal of money and either only do the things you can do by yourself for free, or they do nothing at all once they've got your money.

You will find that it is nowhere near as easy to find jobs in Canada as it once was. You can imagine that a country that is so closely tied to the USA, both geographically and economically, has suffered a lot since 2008. Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver, which for decades have been the most sought after locations for newcomers to Canada to settle in are now at their saturation point and really can't handle much more immigration. Work is extremely difficult to find in those areas since a newcomer must compete with not only all the other newcomers, but also with unemployed local residents for every single job vacancy. Calgary and Edmonton, Alberta are much better locations in terms of job availability and the cost of living there is lower too.

You can job hunt online using www.workopolis.com or www.monster.ca and if you find something then you should visit the Citizenship and Immigration Canada website, fill out the online information and see if you will qualify for a visa.

Good luck with the job hunting. Really if you can try to concentrate your search in Calgary or Edmonton the whole province is growing much more than the rest of the country right now and jobs are available right across the whole spectrum.

Hello Kilonda,

You should place your resume in the classifieds section that is dedicated to JOBS which you will find in the menu on the left side of the forum page. It will get better exposure there since it will remain current, as opposed to here in the forum where it will continue to move towards the back pages as new topics are posted.

Thankyou for your cooperation and understanding.

I moved to Canada last year and finding a job was tough and took me a good 4 onths of searching. I ultimately got my job from Kijiji on their Toronto page at kijiji.ca/h-gta-greater-toronto-area/1700272 . So definitely open up the location specific page. Good Luck! :)
