All,
Does anyone know how to file a police report in Brazil? I would imagine it would have to be filed with the Policia Civil, but I just wanted to confirm. In addition the US Consulate in Manaus is stating it is possible to file online? Could this possibly be true in a bureaucratic country like Brazil??

I answered my own question. While only applicable to the Amazonas, I am hopeful other states in Brazil provide this very same service ONLINE.

Hi Matt,
Yes, the Policia Militar only do street policing. It's the Policia Civil who investigate crimes. So you have to go to the Delegacia da Polícia Civil nearest where the crime took place or where you live to file a B.O. (Boletim de Ocorrência). Don't expect it to be a quick process either, nothing here in Brazil is.

Hi James,
I was able to file it online "BOLETIM DE OCORRÊNCIA N°" in less than 10 minutes and it was validated in less than 30 minutes. Shocking I know.
Won't complain about this one.
