Salinas Expat meetings

Where is the place in Salinas and Bahia where expat meet together?

Hello, We meet informally all over town and there is a Friday night meal that rotates among local restaurants.  There are any number of Expats living here and we see each other frequently as this is a small town. Come see for yourself it is always  warm here. 69 to 90 degrees.

Thank you Charlie. We want to choose place to live in our early retirement between 2 towns Salinas or Bahia. We always talk to people before making any decision and it is work perfectly. So far we are not sure when we have open window to visit Ecuador. But in the end of August it will be clear. We want to stay 10 days in Bahia. If you will be so kind to provide us info for quite hotel or maybe some furnished apartment for that period. Is it best way fly to Quito and take bus to Bahia?

Big respect
Zhana and Alex

Hello there Zhana and Alex,
There are several local Hotels for rent here.  Apartments for short term stays as well.  As far as travel from Quito you can take the bus for about 9 hours bus ride  ( about $9, leave early to get here by dark at 6:30) or you can fly to Manta from Quito (about $50 flight) and bus here from Manta 90 minutes or so ($6).  Plenty of cabs to take you from bus here in Bahia to your rental. ($5).
The Apartments and Hotels go from fancy to inexpensive. Maybe $20 or so to $100 per day.  $100 Ocean Front $20 for Downtown which is 5 minutes to anywhere here. Everything you need here just bring ATM Card and Tell your Bank you'll be in Ecuador.  US dollars here used for currency.  You may need one night stay in Quito as the flights get here late from US.  Enjoy your adventure we love it here.  We are from cold wet chilly Seattle WA.  Half the fun is just looking at it all so a trip through the rain forest on the bus would be fun.  If you are short on time, the flight from Quito to Manta is less than an hour.
