Places to visit in São Paulo

Hi,

For the ones living in São Paulo, what would you suggest to discover the region?

When you have friends or family visiting you, where do you go with them? What are the must-see places in São Paulo, the tourist sites?

How to visit the region in an original way? Any unusual or unknown place to recommend?

What would you suggest for a couple of days of for a week of holidays in São Paulo?

Thank you in advance for participating ;)

Julie

Municipal market, botanical gardens, and any of the restaurants just off Avenida Paulista one or two blocks on the west side.

Does anyone know of any really good hotels on the north beaches of São Paulo? A hotel that has spa amenities and continental breakfast? Would be even better if you can link me to a place to find out too.

Hi TigerMcTeague,

Thank you for your contribution. :)

The places I'd suggest for anyone visiting São Paulo are:

MASP - São Paulo Art Museum anytime. On a weekend Ibirapuera Park (especially the lagoon or any exhibition at ORCA), it is a great place to walk, jog or just relax.

Parque Estadual do Jaraguá, take a picnic lunch and afterwards hike one of the nature trails, later drive up to the top of Pico do Jaraguá for the most fantastic view of Greater São Paulo that you'll ever get.

On a summer Saturday stroll through Embu das Artes, a small artesan community in Zona Sul.

If you have kids, and don't have moral objections, São Paulo Zoological Gardens is nice too.

On a summer weekend take your kids to Parque Água Branca (in Barra Funda), they have a large reflecting pool full of (enormous) ornamenta Koi and ducks to feed. A few rides for really little kids, they have a craft and cloting fair usually, it is a nice relaxing place to stroll in the shade.
