Hello Ana Cristina,

My name is Austin and I am interested in visiting Belo Horizonte and would like to go to Rio again.  My travel agent doesn't think that there is much to see in Belo Horizonte and is trying to get me to go to other places.  Do you feel it would be worth my time to travel to Belo?  I am in the process of learning Portuguese and I loved the beaches of Rio and Salvador.

Hi Austin,

Your travel agent doesn't know much about Belo Horizonte then if he thinks their's nothing to see or do in Belo Horizonte. While it's not Rio or São Paulo by any stretch of the imagination there's enough to keep any tourist busy and happy.

There are historic sites, Mercado Central, Art Museum, Zoo and even a wacky upside down house in Nova Pampulha area. Which is actually two houses, one laying on its side and the other upside down. They're a real hoot! Every Sunday morning there's a handicraft and art street market on Avenida Alfonso Pena which is great, Central Park, you name it, there's lots to see and do, even if it's just sitting and sipping a cup of coffee at one of the outdoor tables at some coffee shop in Savassi and watching all the "beautiful people" go by. You'll love it I'm sure.

Upside down house Belo Horizonte. (I'll give you directions to get there if you want)

While Belo Horizonte may not have all that much for a tourist to see, its close to Ouro Preto, Tiradentes and São Joao Del Rei, which are all on the UNESCO cultural heritage list, and definitely worth a visit.

Hi Cristina,

This is Jimmy from China.
Hope you can see my message. I will travel to Manus, Brazil. How long will it take from Manus to Rio? I'd like to meet and be good friends with u.

Cheers
Jimmy

Hi Jimmy,

Brazil is a country almost as large as China, Manaus is in the north of the country and Rio in the south-central region. It can mean a flight from anywhere around 4 1/2 to 10 hours depending on route and stopovers.
