3 or more times you were going to be killed, how was that ??? pls tell me more as I am planning to move their for at least the coming year!!!!

Well appreciated alk your comments on the blog. Say, that I am currently living in Nairobi and, despite of being careful is a premise, I wouldnt say it is a dangerous city. Just as all big cities you cannot trust anyone and walk alone donw the street at 3am. Thats my advise.

Good luck for all.

at night is very dangerous and deadly,. (even if you have a car).
the other night was a renowned pub in the heart of the city.
I left the bar (it was about 6 meters from the entrance, I gave some money to a beggar, suddenly approached by a large group of women (prostitutes) and star to attack, another one had a knife a gun. was lucky, the security guards saw the whole thing., and saved me, (I was escorted to my car and got away)

( bad I have other history whith the police , too ... and yes is bad )

It seems acceptable in this forum to use it as a means to gain business.  In this case telling the original poster to contact you.  If that is the norm here then I accept it.

But as a new member, it would be great to see members couple that with replying here with actual information so I and others can learn from your knowledge.

Jerry,
You will find that there are one of two people who, rather than giving information, persist in posting that they either deal with whatever service, or know someone who does......if only you contact them.  I find that this kind of self promotion is not actually very helpful.

Regarding the original question, we insure with AAR and this costs approximately Kes 18,000 per month for two of us (less if you are younger), for their 'Gold Service'.  We have needed to use them to cover a minor surgical procedure for my Wife (which would have cost at least Kes 150 000, otherwise) and have no complaints about the service.  Just to clarify - this is medical cover NOT life insurance.

Longonot62, you said 18,000 and less if younger.  Can you tell me how old you are?  What makes me think it is in your forum name.  haha. That will help me get an idea of what my cost would be.

I am 63 and a foreigner from the US.  If I am living there, do I have to have a particular kind of visa to qualify for this medial insurance?  Like do I need to be married to a Kenyan woman?  Or have some sort of residency staus other than tourist status?  I do not yet understand the qualifications needed for longer term residency here, but that is another subject altogether.

Jerry

Hello Jerry -> Why don'y you start a new thread on the Nairobi forum with your questions? This will allow better interaction. ;)

Thank you,
Aurélie

Hello Jerry. I am 50 and my Wife 51.  There are no particular requirements to obtain medical insurance, apart from a medical upon application.  In my experience policies tend to be annual, so you would waste money if you were not going to be in Kenya for long.

You are correct.  I have not even set foot on African soil yet.  Why am I asking about medical insurance?

Aurélie, before I ever skied, I bought skis, boots, etc.  then bought a season pass. After doing all that I tried skiing for the first time.  And continued for the next 10 years.

I have a strong feeling I will end up living in Africa. So I would want annual medical insurance

Yes , I have ARR is so very very good 0% problem ,. and Coz I have a clinic close to my home ;) ,.

but I need life insurance. ( Wy the way Im 36 years old )
Coz im very short my live here kenya is short... ,

( if a take the life insurance. that money can tranfer to my mama , in Other county ( Chile ) Coz I Am simgle No Kids ;)
