From South America to the UK... Is it possible???
I'm from Uruguay and I'm planning to move to the UK with my boyfriend (future husband;)) and we'd love to hear any advice you can give us...
- Neither of us has a EU passport. I'm currently trying to obtain the Italian citinzenship (my grandmother is Italian) but it will probably take more that 3 years.
- My boyfriend's almost finishing med school (next july) and he would like to do his specialization in the UK.
- I 'm kind of a mix: I'm a web designer, training developer and I've also worked as a teacher.
I have been researching for almost a month, and I've found that living in London could be very overwhelming (not to say expensive!) as we come from a small country (over 3,000,000 people).
We have been thinking about Oxford because it has a Deanery where my bf can study the specialization he wants, and it's not as expensive as London. Is it s good city?
Do you think it will be difficult for us to get student or work visas as we are from South America?
Do you know if it is hard to get into NHL specialization post? Or at least get a job as a general doctor?
I know NHL is changing with the modernizing medical careers program. I know about the test he will have to pass and everything, but we are more concerned about finding a job. Will it be better to get any job at first and then try to find a NHL post?
So, we would love to go to the UK and live there. We would like to study and experience the culture we both love.
Thanks a lot in advance!
