Farming in Mozambique

Hi,

I have been reading your topics here and I was hoping to hear from anyone who has set up a farm in Mocambique. I process passionfruit and mango in Brazil and I am planning to buy a farm here to dovetail our existing business. I can see some obvious advantages in Mozambique plus I can imagine that it's fraught with peril too. The language is no barrier for me and agriculture does not usually draw the slimey corrupt people that other industries do, so assuming that the right site can be found then I can see opportunity. So the way I see it -

Advantages of Mocambique -

Cost of unskilled labour (how much is it anyway? We pay our employees about $US 420 per month here in Brazil)
Abundant land.
Access to irrigation areas?
Close to Australia (compared to Brazil)

Disadvantages -

Do they hate foreigners? Brazil accepts me with open arms.
Lack of skilled labour.
Poor infrastructure.
Corruption
Port charges
Getting permanent residency

I have been to Mocambique before but a holiday is not reality, so if you want to pour cold water on my head then please do!

Agrobusiness is a great fiel to invest in Mozambique. There are some difficulties..but I think its possible and profitable!
