Hi - My husband is considering a 2 year position in Honiara and I have just freaked myself out reading about five minute snakes and huge spiders etc. Is this true? The job comes with accommodation. There are plenty of negative things to read on the internet about the Solomon Islands but very little positive. I would be grateful for any advice.

Hi Netta
Mt Wife comes from Malaita and we visit every year and stay at Naha and /or Kabia just outside of Honiara and I have not seen a snake nor a spider. These creature exist but not so much in the populated area. The people are very friendly and you just take the same precautions that you would in any other city / country you visit. You will have a great time over there as long as you can handle the humidity.
