How to find a good house maid/nanny?!

Hi everyone!

Me and my family live in Dubai for one month now and we are desperatly looking for a house maid/nanny who will live with us. We don't want to just take someone from the street and let them in our house. What is the best way to find a honoust relaible person? We prefer someone with experience and references. Can anyone help me with this?
Maybe there is another expat who is leaving and has a good house maid who can be transferred to us?
In that case, please let me know!

Thanks in advance!

Greetz!

Hi Wahaj,

You should post your advert in the Dubai classifieds > job section. Thank you and good luck.

As far as I'm aware, Riyadh is in KSA.....

Re: How to find a good house maid/nanny?!

I faced the problem of finding a good maid / nanny for a few months until I found one. Allow me to advise few things due to my personal experience:
1) If the maid is too eager to start working and too pushy it doesn't mean good usually. Many maids run away from their sponsors due to small pay and they earn more by working part time and they want to start immediately. I still believe running away from legal sponsor without any notice is not a good thing. excluding the cases if the maid was treated badly then she must contact her consulate / embassy or police.
2) ask for references - don't be shy to call her previous or current employers.
3) ask about her family if they stay in Dubai ( my maid lives with her husband and daughter in Dubai which is totally fine with me)
4) if you hire one go for surveillance cameras so you can see your place while you are away. I have installed  security cameras called Super nanny cam at home which look kind of cute :) and I watch my little girl with her nanny full day on my computer and mobile). let me know if you need the contact details of the company who did it. I'me quite happy with them.
I've got many other tips for keeping a maid happy LOL. I hope I was helpful.

I found my maid thru Dubizzle ( I guess I was lucky). She's been with us for a year. Still you cant trust anyone for 100%. One of my acquaintances's maid run away with money and valuables after a year of working. she was extremely sweet and well-skilled :(. I never went trhu any agency but some of my friends did. I'll let you know if I get anyone recommended.

Re: How to find a good house maid/nanny?!

Good morning,

I am looking for a job as nanny in a family in DUBAI.
I am French (from Lyon in France), I am 50 and I really want to live in Dubai.
I have been a secretary for 25 years and now I prefer looking after children.
I have got 2 daughters (25 and 17) aand I live alone with them.
Could you please help me to find a french family in Dubai. I can work for a short or long stay.
I can also help for the homework : I am very good in French, and quite good in English, German and Spanish.
I thank you very much for your attention and your request.

We have a maid from Sri Lanka.  My job has ended here and we would really like to place her someplace good.  She is great with my boys, 2 and 6, cooks well, and cleans well.  She is reliable and has worked in an expat nursery before.  She is dedicated and needs a good family.

Regards,

Fred
