Please can anyone help?

Hi

I am actually currently in Britain but my partner is in Helsinki and is pregnant (first term). She is suffering terribly from depression (and constant sickness) and I'm so worried about her - that she might even be suicidal - she is there alone pretty much (although she's FInnish) does anyone know of any support network for pregnant people / people suffering from mental health issues? I don't know what to do. Does anyone know of what help might be available? I'm so worried.

She could get an appointment at the local health center. The PCP will refer her to a specialist if necessary.

Also, she might bring up her problems at her next prenatal care appointment.

Her congregation may have something for her, and in any case, she can always reserve an appointment with the pastor.

There is something called Yhden Vanhemman Perheiden Liitto (union of families with one parent). Her situation is a little different because she is only temporarily and geographically separated from you, but I'm sure she will be welcome. There's a person called Teija Hallbäck-Vainikka, her number is  040 541 5294.

Of course, if she is depressed she may also be passive in seeking help. Maybe you could book a flight with a cheapo airline and fly in for Christmas? I'm sure that would help.
