Hello tger Monica, there is a lot of things to do here.
Your friend can join us in our gatherings, meet up for movies or coffees and even going out of town for a weekend vacation.

Once she joins the community, it will be easier for her to find new friends, activities and all the informations she needs.  Tell her to PM me, I'll be happy to help in any way :-)

Annie

Re: Hi All,New Comer :)

Hi All,
I have been in Asia that's about 5 months now. First I went to Bali Indonesia because a friend of mine (Indonesian) living in Norway asked me to come there.I stayed there all the month of July 2012 and left for Bangkok where I am now. Sincerely I didn't like and I saw the same pattern everywhere I go in Asia. Once it is known that you are a foreigner from the US, people treat you differently and they want all your money. In fact I came to Asia because I retired, living on social security with a little saving, divorced and could not afford to live back home and I felt that by coming in Asia I could adjust to the cost of living and hoping to meet a soul mate and eventually get married and settle. Now I worry a lot because I am realizing that I have been too naive, I feel frustrated and want to go back home.

Hello there, your sharing is rather interesting and I would like to just share my opinion with you.
I am sorry that you feel that way, I can only imagine being in your position. Not everyone in Asia is like that, perhaps you should consider going to somewhere else, explore new places.
Jakarta and Bangkok are not really the right places to find someone sincere. I mean, ofcourse there are still good people with good heart, but looking in cities like these is almost impossible.

Stay positive. Travel around, try to go to small towns, people are usually more sincere. Plus you will have the opportunity to see how the real locals live, beautiful sceneries, different cuisines.

Good luck and I hope you will find your happiness soon :-)

Annie
