Greatest Arabic Lines of Love

This is a topic about Arab world and their poetry great icons ,, they said an everlasting words of love and filled our life with crimson romance that wouldn't let an equal to exist ...

Some romantic poets were named with whom they loved like (Kais); because his love was eternal to Layla, he was called (Kais Layla).. and this means in English like you say (not any Kais but that Kais who loved Layla), as if he is known only by Layla ... anyway, I'll let you read some of my translations of those poets' lines

"And I wonder not how lovers for love would die   ...
... but I wonder why they are still alive"

                                                 (Almotanabby)

"And when the blades of war were near ....
.....and death was looking to me in th'eye
I wanted to kiss the blades and spears     ...
.... only for they sparkled as your pretty smile
                                                 (Antara)

She has the sweetest glance of death ...
... with it does kill and spare some lives
And when she's in rage; people perish ...
... and when she is content; the souls alive
                                                 (Kais)

Greet your beloved bird ; the prettiest one ...
... and knot your longing for Afraa a scarf
And weave on the loom of love a song ...
... a chaste, loving and praising wooing one

                                                 (Orwa)

Hope to entertain you and see your comments :)

beautiful.. :-) poetry was created in the arab world even before shakespeare. i love this:

She has the sweetest glance of death ...
... with it does kill and spare some lives
And when she's in rage; people perish ...
... and when she is content; the souls alive
                                                 (Kais)

Welcome back Meez :) as usual, inspiring posts by you....

--------------------

Where are you now, my other self? Are you awake in
The silence of the night? Let the clean breeze convey
To you my heart's every beat and affection.

Are you fondling my face in your memory? That image
Is no longer my own, for Sorrow has dropped his
Shadow on my happy countenance of the past.
Where are you, me beloved?

Oh, how great is Love!
And how little am I!

(Khalil Gibran)
