Hi all,
We're an active retired American couple looking to retire outside of the US. After researching/visiting many lovely S. American countries, we are opening up to Australia, probably Melbourne. Melbourne looks terrific, but we've done the big, flashy city and would prefer living NEAR Melbourne, but in a quieter area. Any Melbourne suburbanites out there with info?

BTW Expatblog has been a real life-saver for us as we make plans!

Hi Pica1,
I live in the outer west suburb, 20km (16 miles) from the city. It's quiet and property is affordable.

Hello Pica!

I hope you found some great information!
I live around the Northern suburbs (A bit away from Epping on the other side). It is a lot quieter and probably a little closer towards the countrysides.

What kind of quieter areas are you interested in? A place where you can just relax? Or?
