Autumn in Koprivshtitsa

My Blog entry
Koprivshtitsa website (in english)
My Bulgarian friends and I traveled to Koprivshtitsa this past weekend.  The fall colors in the mountains are glorious right now.

A very picturesque mountain village, steeped in history for Bulgarians.  Much of the town is a museum.  If you as an expat want to get to know Bulgaria, I can't recommend a better place to find out what makes the modern Bulgaria since 1876 what it is.

Buses from Sofia and Plovdiv are easy to catch - and cheap.

We traveled from Burgas to Plovdiv, then took a smaller bus up to Koprivshtitsa from there.  Trains from Burgas to Koprivshtitsa are normally available, but they seem to be out of service going west of Karlovo these days.  Not all the tourist agents seem to know this, so keep that in mind.

Five stars out of five for the restaurants, hotels, scenery, people, colors, flavors, foods and atmosphere.
