Gaffes, Goofs, Out-takes. Pratfalls and other Flubs
I love finding the little errors in movies, television programs, websites, newspapers, magazines, etc., that generally go without being noticed by the vast majority. I guess it started out when I was a young boy and I was watching a Miss America pageant. The contestants were strutting down the catwalk in evening gowns when one of them lost her panties. She calmly stepped out of one side of the undergarment and with her other foot kicked it high into the air toward the cheering audience. It was hysterical. Since then I've been hooked.
Nobody is immune, kings, presidents, journalists, celebs all have their moment in the spotlight. This week we at Expat-blog had one minor gaffe which probably only I noticed - on our welcome page the "Latest picture" was captioned Dubai - Afghanistan. Of course we know that Dubai is in the United Arab Emirates, but it slipped by.
This week King Juan Carlos of Spain took a spill and suffered minor abrasions on his nose and chin.
Today, Google Brazil showed that even native Brazilians can goof with their own language. Their browser page featured a cartoon of a polevaulter which they captioned "Salto em Altura" which actually is High-Jump. Polevault is translated as "Salto com Vara".
If like me, you enjoy catching these little flubs add a reply to this topic and tell us about it.
