Relationship possibilites in Japan

Hi all,
Me and my roommate have been contemplating going to Japan to teach English. The jobs we got offered would be for at least a year. Since we would be there for a while we were just wondering about any possible relationships. I am a Caucasian lesbian. My roommate is a straight male of Indian descent. We have found a lot of info about straight Caucasians but very little and mostly negative info about anyone else. We were hoping to get some definite and/or personal experiences rather than general "you should be ok if your outgoing" kind of responses.
