Facilities in Jimma

I am supposed to move to Jimma University by next month(from India). Can any one tell about the life in Jimma and the facilities like electricity, shops, internet and sim card for my mobile? I would also like to know about safety for family, Churches and availability of rice or wheat..

Are there any expats in Jimma?

Re: Facilities in Jimma

Hi, Jimma is about 350 Km from Addis Ababa if I remember well. It is a very beautiful town and the University is very famous where many Ethiopians go to study there, especially medicine and nursing. But like many other towns in Ethiopia, it may not have everything you need. So you may plan to take things from Addis Ababa. By private car, it took me about 8 hours to arrive to Addis. By public transport, it may take a whole day.
But I am sure when you come to Jimma you will like it very much because it is a marvelous green and peaceful town.
Good Luck

Re: Facilities in Jimma

Dear George,

Greetings in the name of God! Thank you very much for the reply.. Do u have any idea about the shops in Jimma.. Is it advisable to take my two year old child with me there?
Any precautions to take?

With regards & prayers,
