How to expat' in scotland?

Hello!

I'm student in hospitality in France at the mo and really want to go in scotland in July with my G/F.
She's scotish and and studiyng in sciences po paris as an exchange program at the mo but I want to go with her next july because she had to do her last year of study in St andrews.
Is someone can help me to know the good way for a french to live and work in scotland?
And what are the things to do with the administration?

p.s:if someone could help me to correct my english witch is not really good at the moment...this will help me as well!!
