New place to live
Hi
My name is Noja and I come from Poland. Now I am looking a new place to live for me and my family. I read a lot about Malta and I think that it is wonderful place. But I consider if it is easy to start everything from the beginning. Find job, accommodation school for children and so long. It is a new experience for me because I never work abroad but now I feel that I need changes. Maybe there is someone who moved to Malta and go through the same filings like me- afraid, fears and at the same time hope, exciting and need try new adventure

Hi Noja
There are a couple of sites which may get you going.
http://www.transitionsabroad.com/listin … ndex.shtml
http://www.escapeartist.com/index.html
A few suggestions, as I am planning on doing the move this year from Switzerland, so can share some experiences.
1) Have you actually visited Malta with your family? This is important to get a feel for the place and make sure everyone feels comfortable as the areas vary and each place has a distinctive feel and atmosphere. And sometimes whats on the brochure, is not what you get.
2) When you are down have a look with the some of the estate agents who could show you different options on accomodation, which would suit you.
3) Are your kids going to school, and at what level do they need to participate check http://www.education.gov.mt/edu/schools.htm
will it be private or state, as the state schools are pretty good. however there would be the addition of Maltese language to learn + English if this is not the first language of kids.
4)For employment options best is to make contact with some of the companies where you would potentially like to work and find out about the conditions etc.
5) Finally try and check the newspapers for Malta you can do that here http://www.pressdisplay.com. I did this for a few months to get a feel of what the issues are. A subscription costs about 9 usd a month, but they give you a free trial. It hosts both the Independent and Times and Weekend editions of these papers.
I think this should keep you going, if you have any more questions ask.
Best regards

Re: New place to live
Hi,
reading Maltese newspapers in advance is a very good idea. There are two English language publications, The Independent and the Times.
The Malta Times has a very good website and it is free and very frequently updated.
timesofmalta.com
I read it all the time in Malta.
