Xmas & New Year's in Munich

Greetings.  I (along with my girlfiend and her 16 year old daughter) will be spending Xmas and New Year's Eve in and around Munich.  I have been to Germany many times, but never during the holidays.  Might anyone be able to suggest some cool (i.e., non-touristy) things to do on either or both Xmas or New Year's?  Always more than happy to spend time in a highly recommend pub frequented by locals and not tourists, espcially if doing so on a holiday is a good idea.  Also happy to jump on a train to head out to the country.  Any and all advice is greatly appreaciated!  Thanks in advance.
